Accountant for Shared Services Program Job Opportunity

Organization: Community Sector Network of PEI
Location: This is a hybrid position, but the person must be living in Prince Edward Island.
Duration: Part-time 2-year contract
Salary: $23,000 – $25,000 with a flexible benefits package
Start: As soon as possible

The Community Sector Network of PEI is seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join our team as an Accountant for the Shared Services Program. The Shared Services Program provides nonprofits organizations in PEI access to high-quality administrative services at reduced costs, achieved through resource sharing with other organizations. The program aims to alleviate administrative burdens so organizations can focus more on their core missions and programming. The ideal candidate will have strong financial expertise, a proactive mindset, and a commitment to supporting the nonprofit sector. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Maintain accurate bookkeeping records for the Shared Services Program. 
  • Manage accounts receivable, including invoicing and payment collection from member organizations. 
  • Oversee timely payments to service providers engaged in the program. 
  • Provide financial advisory support to the Program Manager to guide strategic decisions. 
  • Prepare financial projections to ensure program sustainability and identify opportunities for growth. 
  • Develop end-of-year financial reports and statements for the program. 
  • Create detailed financial reports for funders, including projections of program costs and revenues to support future funding applications. 
  • Meet weekly with the Program Manager to review progress, brainstorm strategies, and identify areas for improvement. 
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies and regulations. 
  • Other duties as required. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (CPA designation is an asset but not required). 
  • Proven experience in bookkeeping, financial management, and reporting. 
  • Knowledge of nonprofit financial practices is an asset. 
  • Proficiency in financial software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, etc.) and Microsoft Excel. 
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail. 
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities effectively. 
  • Flexibility and adaptability to support a dynamic program.
