Call for Expressions of Interest: ASCEND Program Trainers

Project Description

ASCEND (Achieving Success through Community ENgagement and Development) is CSCNL’s new, multi-year program for NEET youth (Not in Employment, Education or Training) across Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Nunavut. The project will have four cohorts, each requiring pre-employment training for participants. ASCEND aims to help youth participants develop skills and gain work experience with the goal of transitioning into the job market or pursuing further education upon program completion.

As part of ASCEND, participants will receive 70 hours of pre-employment training, complete a paid work placement with a community sector organization, and have access to employment counselling and other supports as identified during their intake interview.

Scope of Work
ASCEND is seeking external trainers to deliver workshops on various topics aimed at enhancing participants’ readiness for the workplace. These workshops will focus on equipping individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in today’s professional environment.
The areas of expertise required include, but aren’t limited to:

  • Soft Skills: Communication (written and verbal), teamwork, problem-solving
  • Workplace Professionalism: Preparing participants for the expectations and behaviors in professional settings
  • Interview Skills: Strategies and techniques for successful interviews, including tools like mock interviews and feedback
  • Resume Writing and Job Application Skills: Writing effective

  • Career Exploration and Goal Setting: Identifying participants’ strengths to help articulate skills/strengths/interests, identifying and setting realistic and actionable goals, how to leverage, grow and maintain your network
  • Cultural competency and workplace diversity: Understanding and respecting different cultures, people with diverse backgrounds and accessibility needs.

Successful trainers will be expected to design and deliver engaging content that fosters personal and professional growth.
