SUMMARY:Family Service PEI Launching 'From Partners to Parents' Program!
DESCRIPTION:Family Service PEI is thrilled to launch the From Partner to Parents program\, with the first cohort beginning on August 17th in Summerside. The transition to parenthood changes everything\, including your relationship. Based on the Gottman Institute’s Bringing Baby Home\, this is a research-based workshop designed to help couples strengthen communication\, maintain connection\, and navigate the realities of early parenting as a team. \nThe program prepares couples for the transition to parenthood and helps them build a deeper understanding of infant and child development. Alongside practical\, research-based parenting education\, the program also places a unique focus on strengthening the couple’s relationship. Couples should expect to gain a practical toolkit of skills and insights that can be immediately applied to their daily lives\, helping them feel more connected\, and confident as they navigate the early years of parenting together. \nThis is not group therapy\, and there is no group sharing. Instead\, couples participate in guided learning and have dedicated time to practice new skills together privately in a comfortable and confidential environment. \nFrom Partners to Parents is designed for any couple who are expecting or newly parenting a child under three years old\, including through adoption or fostering. It is offered using a pay-what-you-can model ($0- $400) and is co-facilitated by Gottman trained Leaders and Family Service PEI Clinical Therapists. \nTo learn more\, contact connectedcouples@familyservice.pe.ca. \nTo register: https://fspei.ca/from-partners-to-parents/ \nThe programming is funded\, in part by\, the Government of Prince Edward Island Interministerial Women’s Secretariat with financial support from the Government of Canada’s Department for Women and Gender Equality in support of the National Action Plan to End Gender Based Violence. \n
