Hiring: Executive Director Island Trails

Island Trails is seeking a dynamic and innovative Executive Director. We are an equal opportunity employer. Reporting to the Board of Directors via the President of Island Trails, the Executive Director (ED) will have advisory and operational responsibility for the execution of the organization’s day-to-day administration, activities, and mission. This is a part-time role, to work approximately 20 hours per week, depending on the season, up to about 1000 hours annually. Compensation will be based on $25/hr. Working location is hybrid, with the expectation of at least 1 day / week in the office. Some schedule flexibility is required. We are looking for you to help us grow this position and the communities we serve.

About Island Trails

Prince Edward Island Trails, Inc. (Island Trails) is a not-for-profit organization that was established in 1994. It lobbied for the creation of a non-motorized recreational trail from abandoned rail beds. As a result, PEI developed the Confederation Trail which is part of the Trans Canada Trail system. Since then, Island Trails has developed and maintained other trails across the Island. It actively supports the promotion, development, and enhancement of non- motorized trails for healthy recreation, and educational use.

         Job Requirements

  • Work to achieve our mission, be a key public face of our organization, communicate and collaborate with members, volunteers, stakeholder groups, and other external agencies and not-for-profits.
  • Manage the daily operations of the organization including office administration, documentation, and financial record keeping and reporting (with the Treasurer).
  • Social media updates and marketing along with basic website administration and updating
  • Manage the overall process (sometimes writing) for developing and submitting funding applications, proposals and required reports.
  • Event planning
  • Human Resource responsibilities when other employees, volunteers and contractors arehired.
  • Potential to manage volunteer and paid support staff to support the execution of theresponsibilities of the Executive Director.
  • The successful applicant must provide satisfactory criminal records check prior tocommencement of employment.
  • Access to a vehicle and occasional province wide travel may be required.
  • Skills
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Familiar with IT systems, including Microsoft or Google office software, Google drives,social media, basic website administration, presentation software, etc.
  • Marketing skills including social media
  • Previous experience with financial work, including invoices, etc., is an asset.WORK AUTHORIZATION:

• Must have proof of eligibility to work in Canada

  • Previous work and educational accomplishments that demonstrate your potential forsuccess in this position.
