What is a water walk? (Excerpt from NCPEI)

“A water walk an indigenous ceremony where we focus our intentions and energy towards the water spirit and all that she carries within her. To pray for her health and happiness so that the water can continue to provide for us. To honor and acknowledge the water and give thanks for all the years she has been with us and continues to be here.

It is our duty as people to protect her and take care of her, and with this ceremony, we want to bring forth awareness about pollution and how we as people can work together collectively to ensure we all do our part to help keep our waters clean and protected. Water is a powerful medicine and is an extremely important resource for all of our survival.”
