Volunteering in PEI

Small Island Big Impact

Roadmap to Volunteerism

In June 2025, CSNPEI hosted a full-day Volunteer Symposium with over 130 participants from across the Island. The event sparked conversations, shared lived experiences, and identified solutions for the future of volunteering.

From that work, we created the Roadmap to Volunteerism, a comprehensive guide full of practical strategies, success stories, and policy recommendations to strengthen volunteer engagement on PEI.

Key themes include:

  • Recruitment and Retention: Clear roles, flexible models, and supports that reduce barriers.
  • Inclusion and Belonging: Welcoming youth, newcomers, and seniors into meaningful opportunities.
  • Volunteer Wellbeing: Preventing burnout through training, recognition, and support systems.
  • Policy and System Change: Recommendations for government, businesses, and the nonprofit sector to ensure long-term sustainability.

Across Prince Edward Island, volunteers are the quiet champions who keep our communities thriving. They deliver meals to seniors, coach local sports teams, organize food drives, run community events, staff crisis lines, and lend their skills behind the scenes to causes that matter. Their contributions often go unseen, but their impact is felt everywhere.

During National Volunteer Week 2025, CSNPEI invites you to celebrate these everyday heroes and to become one yourself. Whether you’re a long-time volunteer or just thinking about getting involved, now is the time to take the next step.

Together, let’s honour the contributions of those who give their time and inspire a new wave of engagement across our Island.

This initiative is proudly funded by the Government of Prince Edward Island.

Volunteer Symposium

Volunteerism is the heart of community resilience, but volunteer engagement is changing, and many organizations are struggling to keep up.

Join volunteers, nonprofit leaders, government officials, businesses, and passionate community members for a one-day Symposium on Volunteerism focused on reversing the decline in volunteer participation and creating a stronger, more inclusive culture of volunteerism across Prince Edward Island.

This high-impact day will feature expert speakers, panel discussions, interactive workshops, and collaborative strategy-building to generate solutions that address today’s challenges while preparing for tomorrow’s opportunities.

Date and time : Monday, June 16 · 9am - 4pm

Location : Rodd Charlottetown (75 Kent Street Charlottetown, PE C1A 7K4)

Travel Subsidy will be available for participants traveling from outside Charlottetown.
